Modeling oblique load carrying capacity of batter pile groups using neural network, random forest regression

摘要: M5 model tree, random forest regression (RF) and neural network (NN) based modelling approaches were used to predict oblique load carrying capacity of batter pile groups using 247 laboratory experiments with smooth and rough pile groups. Pile length ( ), angle of oblique load ( ), sand density ( ), number of batter piles ( ), and number of vertical piles ( ) as input and oblique load ( ) as output was used. Results suggest improved performance by RF regression for both pile groups. M5 model tree provides simple linear relation which can be used for the prediction of oblique load for field data also. Model developed using RF regression approach with smooth pile group data was found to be in good agreement for rough piles data. NN based approach was found performing equally well with both smooth and rough piles. Sensitivity analysis using all three modelling approaches suggest angle of oblique load ( ) and number of batter pile ( ) affect the oblique load capacity for both smooth and rough pile groups.

Analysis of load and adaptability of disc cutters during shield tunneling in soft–hard varied strata

摘要: The disc cutters of shield machines exhibit unsatisfactory adaptability and performance during the soft–hard varied strata tunneling process. To analyze the rotation state, cutting performance, and adaptability of disc cutters during shield tunneling in soft–hard varied strata, the Holmquist Johnson Cook and Federal Highway Administration constitutive models are introduced to numerically simulate the failure process of materials on the excavation face and to calculate the load of disc cutters. Additionally, the parameters of the models are modified based on laboratory disc cutter excavation test results. The results of numerical calculation can reflect the load level and the behavior of the disc cutters during operation. The tangential loads of the disc cutters during the cutting of four typical soft-strata excavation face models are numerically calculated, thus providing reference values for the starting torque of the disc cutters. A greater penetration is suggested for soft-strata tunneling to allow the disc cutters to rotate smoothly and continuously as well as to guarantee a better cutting effect. The disc cutters in the center of the cutterhead should be specified with a lower starting torque to prevent uneven wear, rotation stagnation, cutterhead clogging, and other adverse phenomena.

Soil seismic analysis for 2D oblique incident waves using exact free-field responses by frequency-based

摘要: The seismic analysis of a viscoelastic half-space under two-dimensional (2D) oblique incident waves is carried out by the finite/infinite element method (FIEM). First, the frequency-domain exact solutions for the displacements and stresses of the free field are derived in general form for arbitrary incident P and SV waves. With the present formulation, no distinction needs to be made for SV waves with over-critical incident angles that make the reflected P waves disappear, while no critical angle exists for P waves. Next, the equivalent seismic forces of the earthquake (Taft Earthquake 1952) imposed on the near-field boundary are generated by combining the solutions for unit ground accelerations with the earthquake spectrum. Based on the asymmetric finite/infinite element model, the frequency-domain motion equations for seismic analysis are presented with the key parameters selected. The results obtained in frequency and time domain are verified against those of Wolf’s, Luco and de Barros’ and for inversely computed ground motions. The parametric study indicated that distinct phase difference exists between the horizontal and vertical responses for SV waves with over-critical incident angles, but not for under-critical incident angles. Other observations were also made for the numerical results inside the text.

Accelerated life-time test of MEA durability under vehicle operating conditions in PEM fuel cell

摘要: In this paper, a novel accelerated test method was proposed to analyze the durability of MEA, considering the actual operation of the fuel cell vehicle. The proposed method includes 7 working conditions: open circuit voltage (OCV), idling, rated output, overload, idling-rated cycle, idling-overload cycle, and OCV-idling cycle. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method can effectively destroy the MEA in a short time (165 h). Moreover, the degradation mechanism of MEA was analyzed by measuring the polarization curve, CV, SEM and TEM. This paper may provide a new research direction for improving the durability of fuel cell.

Crushed rocks stabilized with organosilane and lignosulfonate in pavement unbound layers: Repeated load

摘要: The creation of the new “Ferry-Free Coastal Highway Route E39” in southwest Norway entails the production of a remarkable quantity of crushed rocks. These resources could be beneficially employed as aggregates in the unbound courses of the highway itself or other road pavements present nearby. Two innovative stabilizing agents, organosilane and lignosulfonate, can significantly enhance the key properties, namely, resilient modulus and resistance against permanent deformation, of the aggregates that are excessively weak in their natural state. The beneficial effect offered by the additives was thoroughly evaluated by performing repeated load triaxial tests. The study adopted the most common numerical models to describe these two key mechanical properties. The increase in the resilient modulus and reduction in the accumulated vertical permanent deformation show the beneficial impact of the additives. Furthermore, a finite element model was created to simulate the repeated load triaxial test by implementing nonlinear elastic and plastic constitutive relationships.

DX桩承载特性的模型试验研究

摘要:

DX桩是近年兴起的新型变截面桩型,其独有的承力盘很好地改善了沉降问题。通过室内小比尺模型试验,得出DX桩承载力及沉降特性的相关规律,为DX桩承载机理的研究提供进一步的试验支持。试验主要采用应变片测量桩身受力情况,桩顶设置百分表测量沉降情况,加载装置采用砝码以及杠杆分级加载。试验主要为与直孔桩对比试验以及DX桩平行试验。试验结果证明DX桩在承载力和沉降方面都优于直孔桩;上盘承载力大于下盘,随桩顶荷载增大,下盘承载所占比重有所提高。

DX桩与后压浆钻孔灌注桩现场试验研究

摘要:

对DX桩进行了现场竖向抗压静载试验,并与后压浆直孔灌注桩进行了比较。结果表明,DX桩和后压浆钻孔灌注桩都可以提高桩的承载力和控制桩的沉降,4根试验桩的试验效果相差不大,但DX桩能以桩径小、桩长短满足大承载力的桩基,达到极限承载力时,混凝土的单方承载力是后压浆钻孔灌注桩的1.5倍,可以减少工程材料,降低工程造价;且DX桩施工工艺更简单,能加快施工进度。

Distributed fiber optic monitoring of a CFA pile with a central reinforcement bar bundle

摘要: In this paper, we present an application of distributed fiber optic sensor (DFOS) technology to measure the strain of a continuous flight auger (CFA) test pile with a central reinforcement bar bundle, during a static load test carried out in London. Being distributed in nature, DFOS gives much more information about the pile performance as compared to traditional point sensors, such as identifying cross-sectional irregularities or other anomalies. The strain profiles recorded along the depth of the piles from the DFOS were used to calculate pile deformation (contraction), shaft friction, and tip resistance under various loads. Based on this pile load test, a finite element (FE) analysis was performed using a one-dimensional nonlinear load-transfer model. Calibrated by the shaft friction and tip resistance derived from the monitored data, the FE model was able to simulate the pile and soil performance during the load testing with good accuracy. The effect of the reinforcement cage and central reinforcement bar bundle were investigated, and it was found that the addition of a reinforcement cage would reduce the pile settlement by up to 20%.

不同类型阴道斜隔综合征妊娠3例报告

摘要:

阴道斜隔综合征发病率低,Burgis 等曾报道发病率为0.1 %~3.8 %,其临床上有3 种分型,不同类型的斜隔综合征临床表现各不同,阴道斜隔综合征合并妊娠常因复杂的生殖道畸形造成人工流产困难。本文通过报告3 种类型的斜隔综合征患者终止非意愿性妊娠各一例,说明阴道斜隔综合征合并妊娠在诊断和处理上有一定的难度,存在误诊和漏诊,因此需要临床医师、超声医师共同提高对该病的认识,提高诊断准确性,从而指导临床治疗。

Numerical analysis of bearing behaviors of single batter piles under horizontal loads in various directions

摘要: The horizontal bearing behavior of a single batter pile (SBP) is vital to its application in practical engineering; however, the horizontal responses of SBPs change with the directions of horizontal loads, and this phenomenon is rarely investigated. Therefore, the directional differences in the horizontal bearing behaviors of SBPs are investigated in this study. Four model tests are conducted to preliminarily examine the effects of the skew angle of horizontal loads on the horizontal bearing capacities and distributions of the bending moments of the SBPs. Subsequently, the differences in the responses of the SBPs under horizontal loads in various directions at full scale are analyzed comprehensively via finite-element (FE) analysis. The effects of the skew angle on SBP-soil interaction are discussed. Moreover, an empirical design method is proposed based on the FE analysis results to predict the bearing ratios of SBPs in medium-dense and dense sand while considering the effects of the skew angle, batter angle, and pile diameter. The method is confirmed to be effective, as confirmed by the close agreement between the predicting results with the model test (reported in this study) and centrifuge model test results (reported in the literature).

Experimental study of wind loads on gable roofs of low-rise buildings with overhangs

Gable roofs with overhangs (eaves) are the common constructions of low-rise buildings on the southeastern coast of China, and they were vulnerable to typhoons from experience. The wind pressure distributions on gable roofs of low-rise buildings are investigated by a series of wind tunnel tests which consist of 99 test cases with various roof pitches, height-depth ratios and width-depth ratios. The block pressure coefficients and worst negative (block) pressure coefficients on different roof regions of low-rise buildings are proposed for the main structure and building envelope, respectively. The effects of roof pitch, height-depth ratio, and width-depth ratio on the pressure coefficients of each region are analyzed in detail. In addition, the pressure coefficients on the roofs for the main structure and building envelope are fitted according to roof pitch, height-depth ratio and width-depth ratio of the low-rise building. Meanwhile, the rationality of the fitting formulas is verified by comparing the fitting results with the codes of different countries. Lastly, the block pressure coefficients and worst negative pressure coefficients are recommended to guide the design of low-rise buildings in typhoon area and act as references for the future’s modification of wind load codes.

Estimation of composite load model with aggregate induction motor dynamic load for an isolated hybrid

摘要: It is well recognized that the voltage stability of a power system is affected by the load model and hence, to effectively analyze the reactive power compensation of an isolated hybrid wind-diesel based power system, the loads need to be considered along with the generators in a transient analysis. This paper gives a detailed mathematical modeling to compute the reactive power response with small voltage perturbation for composite load. The composite load is a combination of the static and dynamic load model. To develop this composite load model, the exponential load is used as a static load model and induction motors (IMs) are used as a dynamic load model. To analyze the dynamics of IM load, the fifth, third and first order model of IM are formulated and compared using differential equations solver in Matlab coding. Since the decentralized areas have many small consumers which may consist large numbers of IMs of small rating, it is not realistic to model either a single large rating unit or all small rating IMs together that are placed in the system. In place of using a single large rating IM, a group of motors are considered and then the aggregate model of IM is developed using the law of energy conservation. This aggregate model is used as a dynamic load model. For different simulation studies, especially in the area of voltage stability with reactive power compensation of an isolated hybrid power system, the transfer function of the composite load is required. The transfer function of the composite load is derived in this paper by successive derivation for the exponential model of static load and for the fifth and third order IM dynamic load model using state space model.

DX桩在桥梁基础中的应用

DX桩以其单桩承载力高沉降量小的优点,在一般工业与民用建筑中得到了比较广泛的应用。最近一些桥梁工程也采用了这种新型桩技术。以北京市某桥梁工程为实例,通过试桩抗压静荷载试验,得出单桩竖向抗压承载力试验值,并且从单桩竖向抗压承载力、桩沉降量方面与直孔桩作了比较,还简单地分析了DX桩在受到竖向荷载作用时轴力沿桩身的分布情况以及在加载过程中DX桩上下盘盘阻的变化情况。

三峡升船机横梁贝雷架支撑系统荷载试验

摘要:

在三峡升船机续建工程中,针对塔柱横梁施工支撑体系复杂的特点,在横梁混凝土浇筑前进行荷载试验。试验选取轴1、轴2横梁及其相应的基础梁贝雷架作为模型,按照1∶1进行荷载原型试验,通过布置监测点以及采用合理的检测频率,完成试验数据的采集与分析。本次试验取得以下成果:得出了各类型杆件在加载过程中的最大应力值;随着加载量的增加,横梁、基础梁贝雷架的挠度变化量慢慢增大,模板及排架立杆高程在下降;随着加载量的增加,横梁、基础梁贝雷架都发生了较小的侧向位移,轴2横梁模板左右方向变化量和排架立杆垂直度左右方向变化量均很小;试验监测数据表明,经加强后的贝雷架杆件加载后的各项参数满足安全要求,技术方案可应用于塔柱横梁施工,保证升船机塔柱横梁施工安全。

Calculation method of load distribution on pipe threaded connections under tension load

This paper presents a new calculation method that can calculate the load distribution on pipe threaded connections under tension load. On the basis of elastic mechanics, the new method was developed by analyzing each thread tooth, and a new deformation and covariant equation by making a mechanics analysis on each thread tooth was obtained. Compared with the traditional method proposed by the previous references, the new deformation and covariant equation could be used to describe the relation between the previous and the next thread tooth. By applying the new method on the sample of P-110S pipe threaded connection, the obtained results show that the load on thread tooth mainly concentrates on the four or five threads engaged and the middle teeth were not utilized well to bear the loads. The model offers a new way to calculate the loads carried on the thread teeth under tension load.
